The Family Christmas Market at Marktplatz - (Pictured) Children will adore the nostalgic carousel, friendly ponies and puppet theatre, and there are more than 60 stalls where adults can discover alternative handicraft and traditional delicacies. The eye-catcher at the centre of this market is the 14 metre-high Swarovski crystal tree covered with thousands of glittering gems. Open daily between 15th November 2016 - 23rd December 2016 11am - 9pm trading until 8.30pm.
Old Town Christmas Market - The city’s most traditional Christmas market, surrounded by medieval houses in Innsbruck’s Old Town. Beneath the Christmas tree there are rows of 70 rustic Christmas stalls with a range of Christmas ornaments, handicrafts and other winter treats. Open daily between 15th November 2016 - 23rd December 2016 11am - 9pm trading until 8pm.
Christmas Market Maria-Theresien Straße - Innsbruck`s main shopping street will once again dazzle visitors with a cornucopia of lights, glass and crystal - an avenue of glittering illuminated trees, with modern lighting design and vivid mountain crystal, giving this Christmas market a very special flair. At the 30 stalls you will find an exciting array of international Christmas products and all manner of delicious treats. Open daily between 15th November 2016 - 23rd December 2016 11am - 9pm trading until 8pm. This market is also open after New Year until 6 January 2017.
VAL THORENS, FRANCE
Visit Europe's highest Ski resort
Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Eurpoe and is located in Tarentaise Valley, Savoie, French Alps.
The nearest airport is Chambery with a 2 hour transfer time. Val Throens can also be visited from Lyon Airport with a transfer time of 2 hours 45 minutes and also from Geneva Airport, a 3 hour 15 minute transfer time. The resort is 1 hour from Moutiers for the snow train.
Val Thorens lets visitors experience every aspect of mountain life, highest ski-able peaks are Pointe du Bouchet (3220m) and Cime de Caron (3200m). The resort has a range of great dining establishments, over 40 bars and 60 restaurants. Val Thorens also offers a number of non-skiing activities that are unusual, for example Night-time hikes, tobogganing on the longest toboggan run in France, paragliding, mountain biking on snow, ice driving and many more activities are on offer.
